Malba Writers' Residence Opens Call for 2026 Edition

The Malba Writers' Residence (REM) has opened its call for its 2026 edition, aimed at foreign authors wishing to develop a literary project during a five-week stay in Buenos Aires. In addition to living in the city, it includes public activities and meetings with specialists. In 2026, the Residence will be located one block from Malba, which will allow participants to access the museum's programming and consult the Ampersand library, an institutional partner of the initiative.

The residencies will take place between April and November of next year. Since its creation in 2018, REM received 653 applications in its last edition and has brought together 22 writers from different countries. The program proposes an urban experience that facilitates the integration of authors into the Buenos Aires cultural scene and promotes artistic collaboration networks.

For the third consecutive year, Chilean authors will participate with the support of the MATTA Cultural Center of the Embassy of Chile. The 2026 edition will also feature, for the second time, an exclusive residency for Italian writers, thanks to an agreement with the Embassy of Italy and the Italian Institute of Culture.

As every year, three open activities will be organized to publicize the work of the guest authors. One of the spots will be for a Spanish writer, thanks to the support of Acción Cultural Española (AC/E), with the aim of strengthening cultural ties between Spain and Argentina. This is joined by the incorporation of the Etxepare Euskal Institutua, which will allow the participation of authors in the Basque language.

REM, an initiative of MALBA Literature, maintains its mission of consolidating cultural ties and fostering literary work in an international exchange environment. Applications must be made exclusively through the Residence's website. Applications can be submitted through the REM website from December 8th to 31st.
